Greece - Peloponnese

The Peloponnese is the delta shaped southern part of the Greek mainland, just about… it is technically an island separated by the man-made Gulf of Corinth - but it is not a very big gulf.

Because it is not a ‘Greek Island’ then it tends to get overlooked by many holiday makers. But two weeks doing a circuit of this peninsular is a holiday of a lifetime. An easy drive from Athens (less than an hour) and your ready to do your circuit and visit some of the most famed Greek ruins: Corinth, Olympia, Sparta and Messini.

You must also do Nafplio if your in the region, the first capital of modern Greece, where Venetian architecture co-exists with Turkish decoration and neoclassic elegance. The reason it was chosen as the first capital was because the politicians wanted to live here in one of the most beautiful provincial towns in Greece. Very civilized.
